The launch of a campaign to legalise the dram as an official unit of measurement of whisky for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival has resulted in an impressive three award wins at two prestigious industry awards ceremonies.

Aberdeen-based PR agency Tricker PR, which created the ‘Save Our Dram' campaign with the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, picked up the Best Campaign of the Year award at the Northern Star Business Awards. The quirky high profile campaign also won in the Best PR Strategy and Best Product Launch categories at the Scottish Event Awards.

Through the ‘Save Our Dram' campaign, Tricker PR lobbied the National Measurement Office on behalf of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival to reintroduce the dram as a legal measurement of whisky in Scotland. Calling to arms all lovers of the amber nectar, the campaign garnered the support of whisky aficionados from all corners of the UK and beyond, highlighting the cultural importance of Scotland's national drink and increasing awareness off the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival through live TV and radio broadcasts alongside local and national print media coverage. The ‘Save Our Dram' campaign also allowed the festival to target an international audience for the first time through extensive use of social media and contact with bloggers, which resulted in support for the campaign across the globe.

Festival Chairman James Campbell was present at the Northern Star Business Awards and collected the award with Tricker PR's Beverley Tricker. He says, "We are delighted that the ‘Save Our Dram' campaign was recognised by the Northern Star Business Awards. Tricker PR's innovative campaign helped the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival reach a wider audience than ever before, uniting whisky lovers from across the globe while spreading the message of the Festival."

Beverley Tricker, Managing Director of Tricker PR, says, "To win these awards is a great achievement for the team. We always strive to deliver the best results for our clients, and are incredibly proud of the ‘Save Our Dram' campaign. Our creative approach to PR helped raise the profile of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, catching the attention of media around the UK and the world. The Northern Star Business Awards and Scottish Event Awards celebrate the best in Scottish business and it is a great feeling to be recognised."
Tricker PR could now be in with a chance of winning a host of other awards in the coming months. The ‘Save Our Dram' campaign is nominated for Best PR Event or Stunt at the UK Event Awards
