Aberlour Visitor Centre has won the award for the Best Visitor Attraction 2015 at the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards.

Rikki Scott, Visitor Centre Supervisor at Aberlour, and Caroline Mitchell, Visitors Centres Manager, picked up the award at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness after the judges highly commended their world acclaimed tours and tastings.

Marina Huggett, Chair of the Awards praised Aberlour’s efforts. She said: “The record number of entries and nominations we received this year and the exceptionally high standards throughout the contest made it extremely difficult for the judges to pick winners. Aberlour are deserving champions.”

Caroline Mitchell praised the team: “We’re delighted to win the award for the Best Visitor Attraction in the Highlands and Islands. Our internationally acclaimed distillery tours feature tutored nosing and tastings of some of the best expressions of Aberlour and our team strive to give our visitors a really special experience. This award is testament to their hard work.”

The winners of the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards will now go on to represent the region at the national final of the Scottish Thistle Awards next year.

The Award follows significant investment over the last 18 months to upgrade the facilities for visitors at Aberlour Distillery. Visitors can enjoy a new exhibition about the history of the Distillery at the start of the tour, a new warehouse experience and a tutored tasting in the renovated Tasting Room.
