Ballindalloch Castle has been home to the Macpherson-Grant family since 1546 and sits at the heart of our traditional Scottish Estate.
After a number of years of planning, Ballindalloch Distillery began production in September 2014 and represented a return to distilling for the family. The Macpherson-Grant family are the 23rd & 24th generation to live at the Castle and it Guy's great, great Grandfather, Sir George, who was involved with the building of Cragganmore and Speyside distilleries in the 19th Century. It is his work that we emulate today.
The distillery sits within a renovated farm steading dating from the early 1800s and our attitude to whisky-making is one that Sir George would recognise. As one of Scotland's Single Estate Distilleries, we harvest barley from our own farm, distil and mature our whisky on the Estate and feed our Aberdeen Angus cattle with the draff and use our by-products to fertilize our fields. Ours is a whisky crafted by skill and experience, not by computers. Indeed, our commitment to tradition and quality saw us awarded the Icons of Whisky Craft Producer of the Year 2016.
We are delighted to welcome guests to our Distillery throughout the year. Our doors open from 10am, Monday to Friday, with additional Saturday openings during the high season.
We offer Distillery Tours and bespoke Private Experiences, a boutique whisky shop and elegant bar.
As the only Distillery to feature its own golf course, we also offer the rare opportunity to enjoy a round of golf in an exceptional setting, followed by a well-deserved drink in the No. 5 Washback Bar.
