Whisky Tasting: Tomintoul with Graeme BowieBack to events listing
- 3 May
- St James Hall
Tomintoul Distillery was built in 1964. The distillery uses traditional techniques that stretch back hundreds of years, to make its award-winning single malt, “the gentle dram”. The natural environment, fresh air and pure water all add to their uniquely smooth and mellow spirit.
Graeme has a wealth of industry experienced which he will bring to this tasting of whiskies from Tomintoul.
Graeme started at Glen Grant Distillery as a warehouseman in 1984. Then followed various roles including looking after the coal fires below the stills, mashman and finally as stillman. In 2000 he moved to Balmenach distillery as a production operator. Then in 2006 he moved to Balblair as Assistant Manager. A role that included travelling Europe promoting Balblair and the other Inver House brands.
In 2013 Graeme had the opportunity to move to Ardnamurchan to start and manage Adelphi’s new distillery. Turning what was just a field into a fully operational distillery producing great spirit.
After a short spell with Duncan Taylor, Graeme moved back into production taking on the role of Production Manager at Tomintoul. This was a role he was destined for. Graeme was born on the 23rd July 1965 which is the same day that the first cask of spirit was filled at Tomintoul.
