Hairy Porter & Fantastic Eats & What Dram to haveBack to events listing
- 6 May
- St James Hall
This tasting is fully titled, "Hairy Porter and Fantastic Eats and What Dram to have with them". From this you can tell that there will be lots of fun not least because the tasting will be hosted by local craft brewer David MacDonald and The Whisky Shop Dufftown's very own Director of the Drams, Vicky Keough.
In this extraordinary tasting which some may describe as theatre of the absurd, different beers have been carefully selected to showcase the world of craft brewing but that's not all. Each beer will be paired with a Scottish Whisky that they have conjured up to complement each other to emphasise flavours and even create new ones but that's still not all. Each pairing will be matched with a food transfigured to further complement the combination but even that is not all. Vicky and David have decided on a magical theme capturing the food mentioned in a best selling series of books and films.
We don't know what characters they have chosen for themselves. There is likely to be costumes. Could it be Professor Fumble Boor? Professor McMoneyHall? Podgy the house elf? Headwig? Best come along and slither-in to your seat to find out.
Vicky is a recognised whisky expert in her own right and decides what whiskies The Whisky Shop Dufftown stocks and also helps choose its exclusive bottlings.
David is a well renowned craft brewer from Spey Valley Brewery and general all round beer aficionado. His original brewery was founded in 2007 where he started quietly perfecting the beers and in 2011 the beers hit the pubs. He has since opened a new, much much bigger brewery and they are now on the big stage winning multiple awards!!!
