Situated at the junction of the Rivers Lour and Spey, Aberlour Distillery lies in a beautiful glen, surrounded by glorious scenery dominated by the rugged peaks of Ben Rinnes. The pure spring water for making the whisky is drawn from springs and the maturing spirit inhales the Speyside air.

James Fleming, the founder, was a man of enterprise, vision and compassion. The son of a local tenant farmer, he became a grain dealer, with many whisky distillers among his customers. He established his own distillery in 1879 and within a year the distinctive whisky began to flow. He was a generous man who left a legacy for the community - he funded the Town Hall, The Cottage Hospital and the Penny Bridge across the River Spey.

Most Aberlour single malts are double cask matured - the spirit is matured separately in the best quality ex-sherry butts and ex-bourbon casks. When it is ready to bottle, whisky from the two types of casks is brought together and the different flavours are subtly merged. From this intricate process emerges a single malt of rewarding complexity and character. This is a revelation for the enthusiast: a wide spectrum of flavours to discover, time after time.
