As organisers count the days until the start of the 2016 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, whisky lovers are being encouraged to start planning their visit.

The Festival, now in its 17th year, hit a new high in 2015, selling out a record 52 events in the first 24 hours of ticket sales. With beds in Speyside being booked up just as fast, organisers are encouraging visitors to “think ahead and book a bed”.

Festival Manager, Pery Zakeri says, “We are already expecting visitors from The Netherlands, Germany and Sweden, and hope to see again whisky fans from the USA, France, Canada, Russia, Norway, Denmark and Australia.

“Speyside, the malt whisky capital of the world, is a very special place and the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival is a fantastic time to discover the passion behind the world’s finest single malts with specialist tours, tastings and experiences. In the words of one visitor, “there is nothing as special as the Festival.”

With visitors in 2015 praising the “receptiveness of the local people”, “the welcoming atmosphere created by the organisers and event hosts” and “the vast range of activities that are available”, organisers are already working hard to deliver another renowned Festival.
