Come dine with Speyside’s whisky stars and mark the start of Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2015.

This year, Spirit of Speyside will celebrate its 16th Festival with two spectacular evenings of whisky, food and music at the atmospheric Glen Moray distillery cooperage on April 29 and 30.

The renowned ‘Touch of Tartan’ Opening Dinner will bring together whisky experts, writers and industry professionals with Festival visitors from across the globe and locals for an unforgettable night. Nicky Marr, multi-talented broadcaster and writer, will host the evening while Sandy Strang, journalist, amateur sportsman, comic and columnist, will provide after-dinner entertainment.

For the first time, an Opening Ceilidh will follow on April 30, with another chance to dine with some of the stars of Speyside’s whisky industry. In fact, each table will enjoy the company of three hosts during the evening. If enjoying a Scottish main with The Macallan and desert with Diageo - not to mention sampling some of their fine whiskies - sounds tempting, then this is the perfect event. The Dandy Ceilidh Band will then take diners to the floor for traditional dancing.

But it’s not just the whiskies that will be stand out. Both evenings will showcase the best of locally sourced and prepared Scottish fare, prepared by husband and wife team, Mike and Yvonne Crook of Good Highland Food.

Mike said: “It’s an honour to be asked to cater for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival’s Opening Dinner this year. The Festival attracts both local and international visitors and does a fantastic job of showcasing the region, its local produce and hospitality. These qualities are shared by Good Highland Food, which has built its reputation on using the best produce from our region and excelling in service.”

“Over the years, we’ve worked with castles, distilleries and estates around the Highlands and we believe that quality food and drink and great venues go hand-in-hand when providing a memorable Scottish experience, so we can’t imagine a better coupling than Good Highland Food serving a Highland Feast at the impressive Glen Moray Distillery. It’s particularly poignant to be asked this year, during Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink and we intend to use this to show people the outstanding quality of produce that can be found in our region.”

Both evenings will provide a fantastic taste of what’s to follow over the five days of the Festival - the world’s greatest drams, fine food, fantastic music and lots of fun.
