THE Legacy Continues; Alan Winchester tasting NEW

Illustrated talk and tasting followed by food.

Alan Winchester, Master Distiller of the Glenlivet will speak about the enduring legacy of George Smith, who founded The Glenlivet Distillery in 1824, and of his great grandson, Captain Bill Smith Grant, who inherited it at the end of WW1 after serving in France and lived to celebrate its 150th anniversary before his death in 1978.

Alan will taste a number of drams of The Glenlivet, a single malt whisky so iconic and so often imitated by its competitors that we consider ourselves to be the definitive dram. He will share his evaluation of the contribution both these men made to the legacy of single malt whisky. In addition he will also provide some insights into recent developments at the distillery. More exciting still, he will let you try something new and highly innovative for the brand, probably before anyone else in the world!

To accompany the tasting, Ghillie Başan has been inspired by the flavours of The Glenlivet to create some delicious dishes to accompany the drams. For convenience they will be served as small plates or finger food but altogether they will add up to a light lunch. Writer, broadcaster, and food anthropologist, Ghillie has been dubbed ‘The Original Spice Girl’ and a ‘World Food Expert.’ At her remote home in Speyside she runs relaxed and inspiring cookery workshops, based on the traditions and tastes of different cultures.
