Nàdurra: How Casks can Influence Flavours - NEWBack to events listing
- 5 May
- The Glenlivet Distillery
A talk and tasting which shows how the selection of the cask influences the development of this iconic single malt whisky during maturation. Nàdurra: the pure expression of a great tradition.
Hosted by one of Chivas Brothers’ International Brand Ambassadors who will share cask strength drams from The Glenlivet’s Nàdurra range this tasting will include information about the sourcing of casks and how each one influences the character of the new spirit and allows different flavours to develop within them over the years.
The three expressions in the Nàdurra range are named after the wood that has imparted the greatest influence during the maturation process – First Fill in American oak, Oloroso in ex-sherry European oak and Peated Cask.
Crafted in small batches, using traditional 19th century methods, Nàdurra is unlike most modern whiskies. It has not been chill-filtered, resulting in greater body and a distinctively creamy texture and mouth-feel. Delivering all the properties to be expected from a whisky that has been drawn straight from the cask, it provides a distinctive flavour experience.
This tasting is part of our Meet THE Makers Open Day. It will take place inside the Malt BARN.
