Whisky fun all day in the Malt Barn at The Glenlivet Distillery Meet The Makers Open Day with a welcome dram on arrival.
Based within and around the Malt Barn, the Meet THE Makers Open Day at The Glenlivet Distillery offers a welcome dram, exhibitions, whisky bar, food court serving coffee, tea, soft drinks and home baking plus a dram from the Sma’ Still. Enter the Whisky Quiz or Prize Draw to have a chance to win amazing prizes to be announced at the end of the day.
As a special event for the Festival the team from the distillery will turn their hands running the Sma’ Still. Using a small pot still just like the one which George Smith used in the days before he began legitimate distillation with the founding of The Glenlivet Distillery in 1824 they will make the single malt that started it all. You will be able to taste the spirit as it runs straight from the pot still.
Inside the Malt Barn the Whisky Bar will serve a range of drams from The Glenlivet plus new releases from our exclusive Distillery Reserve Collection of cask strength single malts.
Exhibitions will bring the history of the distillery to life. Archivist Chris Brousseau will share anecdotes and capture any of your memories. Additional displays will feature local initiatives including the Dark Skies project, the Tomintoul Glenlivet Landscape Partnership and the Crown Estate.
Throughout the day fascinating Meet THE Makers Masterclasses* will take place. Outdoor activities include pre-bookable Off Road Smugglers' Trails by Argocat* along the Smugglers’ Trails on an 8 wheeled Argocat vehicle with Glenlivet Hill Trek which start and finish at the Malt Barn. A Foraging Walk with Zeki Basan* featuring the landscape and history of the area around the distillery.. Big Breakfasts* will be served daily during the Festival. * Please see separate entries and reserve your place in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.
Hot food will also be served all day in The Old Maltings Coffee Shop in the Visitor Centre. Tours will run as normal all day.
