An immersive and exclusive TWO-DAY experience from Monday 29th morning until Wednesday 30th morning to offer you the opportunity to discover more about our range of malt and blended whiskies with visits behind the scenes and luxury accommodation. This course is limited to only 10 participants.
Coach transport, picnic lunches, aperitifs, delicious whisky dinners plus bed and breakfast in the luxury of Linn House are all included on both Monday 29 April and Tuesday 30 April 2019, with the course ending after breakfast on Wednesday morning. The start and end of the course will be in Keith, in the heart of Speyside.
Chivas Brothers’ Scotch Whisky Academy is an immersive experience which will offer you the opportunity to learn about Scotch whisky behind the scenes, from history and craftsmanship to aroma and flavour. There will be opportunities to view distillation and maturation, immerse yourself in the history of our brands and to understand the flavours and aromas of our Scotch whisky portfolio with our experts. In addition, you will be able to experience the Art of Blending, shake up signature serves and indulge in two whisky dinners as well as enjoying the luxury of accommodation in our exclusive company house in Keith, the heart of Speyside, which will be open to visitors for the first time.
DAY ONE [Monday 29 April 2019] will include an immersion in single malt Scotch whisky and begins at Strathisla Distillery.
Discover what happens behind the scenes on Speyside; visit distilleries which are seldom open to visitors, to understand distillation, as well as maturation warehouses. Tastings conducted by experts will uncover the complexity of flavours in a wide range of our single malt Scotch whiskies. As you learn to nose and taste, you will discover more about our single malt whiskies and their rich histories.
In the evening, aperitifs will be served in the Library Bar. The flavours of single malt whisky can be the perfect match for seasonal food; a whisky dinner will be hosted by Martine Nouet, author of “A Table”, which is considered the definitive guide to matching food and spirits, on which she is an acclaimed authority. The dinner will feature single malt whiskies matched to seasonal Scottish food, prepared by our talented chef, Eric Obry. Accommodation will be in Linn House.
DAY TWO [Tuesday 30 April 2019] will focus on the intricacies of blended Scotch whisky with tastings of single malt whiskies, grain whisky and blended whiskies, some drawn straight from the cask, from different distilleries, types of casks and of different ages to give you the chance to improve your sensory perception skills. A visit to a warehousing complex will give you an insight into Chivas Brothers’ extensive inventory of Scotch whiskies.
Based at Glenburgie Distillery of most of the day, you will appreciate the complex Art of Blending with explanations of the meticulous quality checks carried out at every stage of the process. A hands-on blending session will follow in the Customs House with prizes for the best results.
Returning to Strathisla Distillery, you will be able to delve into the history of Chivas Brothers and our brands in the Archive and to learn about our commitment to the environment.
In the evening, enjoy a hands-on cocktail making session with a trained cocktail expert before another whisky dinner at Linn House, hosted again by Martine Nouet.
Accommodation will be in Linn House again.
The course ends after breakfast with check out by 10.00 on Wednesday 1 May 2019.
